“Andean Lodges” and the “Camino del Apu Ausangate” represent a new style in high mountain tourism.

Who are we?
Auqui Mountain Spirit, a renown tour operator based in Cusco and the communities “pacocheras” (sheepherders) of Chillca and Osefina, have created an adventure to satisfy travelers in search of a demanding challenge combined with comfort and good taste, while generating jobs for these high Andean communities.

The Product.
A trek consisting of 5 days and 4 nights following the "Camino del Apu Ausangate" enjoying incredible landscapes, delicious food, and the comfort of four "tambos" (high mountain lodges).  At the end of our daily treks, the lodges provide hot showers and the comfort of a bed at 15,800ft (4800 m).

The lodges will be operated in collaboration with members of the local communities, which have received training over the last couple years in food preparation, house-keeping, maintenance, and basic English, offered by the project “Corredor Cusco - Puno.”

During the 5 day trek, the "Camino Del Apu Ausangate" offers travelers the possibility to enjoy breathtaking, incredible landscapes containing singular mountain formations, and the opportunity of being immersed in the life of llameros and alpaqueros (llama and alpaca shepherds) in the Andes department of Cusco.

The Tambos.
The “Andean Lodges” have the advantage of being located in one of the most beautiful and scared mountains of Cusco called the Ausangate (20,930 ft, 6380m).

Chillca Tambo: A three hour drive from the city of Cusco, this is the starting point of the "Camino del Apu Ausangate," at 14,100ft. (4300 m).  This place offers incredible views of snow capped peaks of the Vilcanota Mountain range. Taking in the surroundings, it is possible to see thousand of llamas and alpacas, and some of the highest cultivation of potatoes in the world.  We will have a warm welcome by the community members, as they perform music and dance, and display their traditional weaving techniques, while we indulge in delicious Peruvian cuisine.

Machuracay Tambo: At 15,700ft (4800m), located below the immense Ausangate Mountain, this lodge is the highest in the world!.

Anantapata Tambo: Located in the Nevado del Inca, this lodge has been constructed by the community of Chillca, with development funds received from FONCODES.

Huampococha Tambo: Located in front of a lagoon, it offers impressive views of rocky flatiron formations.

The price of the package is U$ 695 and includes all the organization, meals, and transport.
